You may remember my previous posts ( Blazing the Trail for Adultery; Caciques Part II) on the double-life of Loretta Sanchez (D-California).  It turns out that our very own Latina Blue Dog hasn’t learned any new tricks.  Latino Politics  Blog, the blog that first broke the Loretta Sanchez Scandal, is reporting a new allegation of impropriety with another lobbyist, John Saylor. Normally, one’s private sex life shouldn’t be that big of deal.  Even the alleged affair between Sanchez and Einwechter wouldn’t have been newsworthy had the married man, John Einwechter, not been a defense lobbyist and had Sanchez not been on the Homeland Security and House Armed Services Committees.  Sanchez only made the situation worse by refusing to answer questions about the affair (not even to put the allegations to rest).  She refused to speak to Cockroach People even after multiple attempts by yours truly.  Her press person didn’t even offer the customary “no comment at this time.”

I’m not sure what happened to the now divorced Einwechter, but this picture leads me to believe that he is far from the Congresswoman’s thoughts.  While I won’t go as far as to say that Sanchez is caliente or anything–I mean she’s no Tiger Woods–I must at least say that she  appears to have a fetish for defense lobbyists named John.  It has been alleged that this particular John is claiming to have slept with the Congresswoman and have vacationed with her in Italy earlier this year.  On the bright side this doesn’t look like a new case of adultery, but the real problem persists–Saylor has business that could come before the Congresswoman.

You would think that a self-identified Blue Dog Democrat–one so “conservative” that she refuses to co-sponsor the Dream Act–would be more worried about an ethics inquiry.  So far she has managed to survive the Einwechter scandal unscathed; so, why is she courting controversy once again?  Perhaps she is emulating Georgiana Cavendish, The Duchess of Devonshire.  Like Georgiana, Congresswoman Sanchez likes the limelight of politics (why else would she obsess so much about the White House Party Crashers?).  Like Georgiana, she has allegedly had at least one adulterous affair.  Georgiana is also rumored to have traded kisses for votes (a method that became known as The Devonshire).  Finally, Georgiana was known to have been an incorrigible gambler.  Are these alleged trysts just chips in a high-stakes poker game?  Might Sanchez enjoy the thrill of risking her entire career for a little fun?  We won’t know until she comes clean, puts the rumors to rest, or until her career goes down in flames.  In the meantime perhaps we can start calling affairs between defense lobbyists and politicians THE LORETTA SANCHEZ.
